GRAPE CULTIVATION CHALLENGES

  • Adverse climatic conditions (too high or low temperatures during berry development)

What needs to be done?

  • Grape vine’s physiology needs to be strengthened internally.
  • All the natural vine growth parameters need to restore.
  • Internal inbuilt protection of grape vine against fungal infections would have to be revived.
  • Canopy development has to be enhanced. Whereby when the temperatures shoot up above 35 C the carbohydrate production is not hampered.
  • The developing grape berry has to be replenished with adequate support in form of additional cell division.
  • There is urgent need to enhance organoleptic qualities such as brix, flavor, crispiness and color of grape berry.
  • Presently there very few chemical or herbal formulations those can successfully tackle these problems.
  • Suitable chemical free support should be provided to mitigate these problems.
  • PHI for this support sprays should be minimum.
  • This support sprays should not have any MRL.
  • They should be having adequate efficacy in all types of climatic conditions.
